Morocco Itinerary of 5 Days Desert Tour from Marrakech
Day 1: Marrakech – Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate – Dades Valley
We’ll start our desert journey early in the morning from Marrakech, crossing the spectacular High Atlas Mountains through the Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260 m). Along the way, you’ll see picturesque Berber villages and stunning mountain scenery.
We’ll visit the famous Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, then continue to Ouarzazate, the “Hollywood of Africa.” After a short visit to Taourirt Kasbah, we’ll head to Dades Valley, passing through the beautiful Valley of Roses.

Day 2: Dades Valley – Todra Gorge – Merzouga (Erg Chebbi Desert)
After breakfast, we’ll drive through spectacular rock formations and stop at Todra Gorge, a natural wonder with cliffs reaching up to 300 meters. Then, we’ll continue our route through Erfoud, famous for its fossils, before reaching the desert town of Merzouga.
Here, your camel will be waiting for you for a sunset camel trek across the dunes of Erg Chebbi. We’ll spend the night in a luxury desert camp, enjoying dinner, Berber music, and stargazing around the campfire.

Day 3: Merzouga Desert Exploration
We’ll wake up early to witness a magical sunrise over the dunes before having breakfast at the camp. Today, we’ll explore the surrounding desert by 4×4 — visiting Khamlia village for traditional Gnawa music, meeting nomadic Berber families, and exploring the M’fis mines.
After a local lunch, you’ll have time to relax or enjoy optional sandboarding.

Day 4: Merzouga – Ziz Valley – Midelt
After breakfast, we’ll say goodbye to the desert and head north through Rissani and Erfoud, following the scenic Ziz Valley with its lush palm groves and ancient kasbahs. We’ll continue through the Middle Atlas Mountains until we reach Midelt, a peaceful mountain town surrounded by cedar forests.

Day 5: Midelt – Cedar Forest – Ifrane – Fes
After breakfast, we’ll continue our drive through the Middle Atlas Mountains, stopping to meet the friendly Barbary apes in the Cedar Forest of Azrou. We’ll pass through Ifrane, often called the “Little Switzerland of Morocco,” before arriving in Fes — marking the end of your unforgettable 5-Day Desert Trip from Marrakech to Fes.
