Itinerary of 3 Days Desert Trip from Fes to Merzouga
Day 1: Fes – Ifrane – Azrou – Midelt – Erfoud – Merzouga
We’ll pick you up from your accommodation in Fes and drive through the Middle Atlas Mountains, stopping in Ifrane, often called the “Switzerland of Morocco.” Then we’ll visit the cedar forests of Azrou, home to wild Barbary macaques. After lunch in Midelt, we’ll continue through the Ziz Valley, famous for its palm groves, before reaching the desert town of Merzouga. You’ll enjoy a camel trek across the Erg Chebbi dunes, watching the sunset on your way to a luxury desert camp. Dinner, campfire, and Berber music under the stars.
Day 2: Merzouga Desert Exploration
After breakfast, we’ll explore the desert surroundings — visiting Khamlia village to listen to Gnawa music, meeting local nomads, and discovering small oasis areas. You’ll also see traditional Berber markets and fossil sites around Rissani. In the evening, enjoy another peaceful night in the desert — either at your camp or riad near the dunes.
Day 3: Merzouga – Ziz Valley – Midelt – Azrou – Fes
Wake up early to witness a spectacular sunrise over the dunes. After breakfast and showers, we’ll ride camels (or drive) back to the village and begin our journey to Fes.
